Ocean Race Chesapeake is a non-profit corporation organized as a private and public sector partnership to bring world class sailing and ocean racing to the Chesapeake Bay region. Established in 1989 to produce the Columbus Cup and the J-Boat Regattas and to bid on the 1993-94 Whitbread Round the World, Ocean Race Chesapeake organized the the stopovers of the 1997-1998 Whitbread Round the World Race, the 2000 & 2002 Hemingway Cup, the 2001-2002 Volvo Ocean Race and the 2003 America's Cup Classic 12-Meter Regatta. ORC is organizing the stopover of the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race.
